Following yesterday's trip to Toytopia comes part two of Tiny Tennant's travels to the Washington State History Museum.
The Washington State Historical Society has put together an impressive collection of artifacts, stories, and exhibits showcasing the history and industry of Washington State.
Tiny Tennant's travels took him from the ice age, to the history of Native Americans in Washington, to the start of railroad travel to the Northwest, to the shanties of Hooverville, to the modern day people making a difference throughout Washington. Let's travel, shall we?
Welcome to the Washington State History Museum, brought to you by the Washington State Historical Society.
Where should we begin?
The History Lab has fun and interesting interactive exhibits like these real life stuffed oxen "pulling" a wagon of supplies.
Learning a little about Chief Joseph.
A display full of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.
Tiny Tennant could find a button telling this traveler's story. He'll just have to tell it himself.
The large model train display is fun to watch.
An interesting exhibit takes you on a road trip through the state exploring the events that lead to the formation and design of the state.
Tiny Tennant is behind the wheel and ready to take you on a trip.
These Mastodon and Mammoth teeth are incredible. And intimidating to someone so tiny.
You can sit and listen to, and learn, different Indian languages.
The Great Hall has history and industry on display: A longhouse you can walk though; traditional wagon train wagon; replica railroad cars; and so much more.
A display showcasing the different people that came to work on the railroads.
What was the nightlife like in Seattle during the war?
Peeking through the window of a shanty in Hooverville.
The museum even has an amphitheater with Union Station as its backdrop.
Why is Washington important to you Tiny Tennant?
The journey home back across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Fun fact: the museum also has a chunk of "Galloping Gertie" - the original bridge that collapsed and fell into the Narrows during a windstorm in 1940.
Thank you for traveling with Tiny Tennant. Until next time...
